Barwon Heads Market

The Barwon Heads Market runs out of the Community Hall on the corner of Hitchcock Avenue and Ozone Street, just a short walk from Little George.

From February to November, it is held on one Saturday a month. Over summer, during December and January, it runs every Saturday. It kicks off at 9am and wraps up around 1pm. Free entry.

There are stalls selling a mix of fresh fruit and veg, pastries, plants, homemade soaps, jewellery, artwork, clothing and other bits and pieces from local makers and growers. The fresh berries are worth getting there early for. There is a sausage sizzle and Devonshire teas if you need fuel, or you can grab a coffee from Coffetti around the corner and wander through with a flat white.

It is not a huge market, but that is part of what makes it good. You will bump into locals, pick up something for the house, and probably leave with a plant you did not plan on buying.

If you happen to miss it and want a market fix, the Torquay Farmers’ Market also runs on Saturday mornings and is about 20 minutes' drive. It is bigger with more of a food focus, and worth the trip if you are stocking up for the week.
